Sample Poem

On a chilly dark morning,

Tea in the sooty pot warming,

I sit under the acacia tree still,

Not that it is my will

The sunrise in the East all shimmering,

From all corners of the garden birds singing,

In melodious melodies maybe praising,

The creator, the maker life-sustaining

Snow in the mountain peaks slowly thawing,

Half molten in rivulets flowing,

Hippos in the mud begin the day wallowing,

The rivulets, the rivers, the lake’s a bliss

The growing grass gracefully glows,

The cold morning breeze serenely flows,

I can hear in the neighbourhood the cow’s moos,

I sit there chanting the vowels

I want to write a poem, oh I can’t,

It’s freezing my fingers wavering, but they want,

The thoughts sink as I turn the mat,

I can hear the squirrels and the rats a rant

Across the sky, a bright light flashes,

A distant buzz is dissolved by the thunder,

Drop after drop the leaves it washes,

It’s a blessed day, a beautiful morning!
